I’m a concerned citizen, worried about the United States’ slide into authoritarianism.

I'm not by any stretch an expert in political science or economics but our systems have been so badly botched that I question what the "experts" know. Or, more accurately, I question the ends to which they've put their expertise. So, this site is my attempt to learn and reason my way from first principles into something sensible and humane.

I’m relating rather more than I’d like to this aphorism:

Too soon old, too late smart

I'm not messing around here. The life of the mind is nothing without the heart and soul. I write when I'm moved and, so, you'll get the poetry and the spirit too. One thing I know to the depths of me: it's all about how we are with ourselves and each other.
